Babbler celebrates 50th anniversary of Bolingbrook

By Sara Langston
Editor of the Bolingbrook Babbler

On October 6th, 1965, Bolingbrook was incorporated.  Moments later, the first official issue of the Bolingbrook Babbler was delivered to each home in Bolingbrook.

Critics at the time said that both Bolingbrook and the Babbler were passing fads.  Fifty years later, Bolingbrook is one the largest communities in Will County, and the Babbler is still going strong.  It's time to look back on the past 50 years and celebrate.

From Monday until Saturday of this week, we're going to feature an article from each decade of Bolingbrook's history.  We've had fun putting these articles together, and we hope they bring back many fond memories from all our residents.

Unfortunately, we won't have a booth at this year's Jubilee, but if you keep your eyes and ears open, you might see one of our reporters, or even spot an alien if you're lucky.

Fifty years ago, critics said that the Babbler, like Bolingbrook, would go out of business.  Today, we can honestly say that as long as there is a Bolingbrook, there will be a Bolingbrook Babbler.
